Cherishing the divine connection in all things

There is so much that distracts us and so much that demands our attention. We are pulled in so many different directions by people we love and the news of the day. There is so much that concerns us but in the wisdom of Brother Lawrence in his beloved book Practicing the Presence of God, our greatest task as Christians is “to retire with [God into the deepest parts of our souls] as often as possible.”

Too often, I find that I’m focused on searching for answers from God that I forget to relish in our connection. I forget to do the work of connecting as I might with an old friend or a family member. I ignore the sheer delight in quality time with the Holy. This is my invitation to you as you delve into your relationships this month. Relish in the wonder of God’s love for you. Forge a connection (again) with the divine.
