Lent begins today with the ashes on our forehead to remind us that we are so very human. We step carefully into these six weeks wondering what might change and hoping that something will really change in us and in the world.
As you enter into this season, I offer this affirmation of faith. Share it with your family over dinner. Whisper it quietly into your living room knowing that there is a wonderful tangled mess of people holding these hopes with you. Feel its blessing and dare to embrace the hope that God is working wonders in you right now.
Embodiment has been on my mind lately. I’m thinking about how I live and how I engage in simple practices and this reflection on the skin of Christ was helpful for my wondering.
There are so many books I want to read and so many on my shelf but I’ve decided to choose a book for this season particularly focused on Lent. I would love to hear your thoughts if you’re reading By Bread Alone too. If you decided to read something else this season, what did you choose?
